Berthold Woltze, born on August 24, 1829, in Havelberg, and passed away on November 29, 1896, in Weimar, was a highly esteemed German artist known for his remarkable contributions to genre painting, portraiture, and illustration.

Woltze's artistic journey led him to become a distinguished professor at the Weimar Saxon Grand Ducal Art School. During his illustrious career, spanning from 1871 to 1878, he shared his artistic brilliance with a wider audience by publishing numerous works in the renowned Gartenlaube newspaper.

Among his extensive body of work, one masterpiece stands out—the iconic "Der lästige Kavalier" or "The Annoying Gentleman." This artwork showcases Woltze's exceptional talent in capturing human emotions and everyday life with a glimpse of humor along with irony.

  1. Hello. I would like to know more about the picture. Is the man truly the painter. I am doing a presentation about him but I didn't find any picture of him, only this one so if you can give me more informations about the man on the picture, I would really appreciate it.
