Fine Art And Its Meaning

One definition of fine art is "a visual art considered to have been created primarily for aesthetic and intellectual purposes and judged for its beauty and meaningfulness, specifically, painting, sculpture, drawing, watercolor, graphics, and architecture."

In the history we can say that people considered five main fine arts. Namely:

  1. Painting
  2. Sculpture
  3. Architecture
  4. Music
  5. Poetry

In addition to these art forms performing arts such as theater and dancing were also considered as a part of fine arts.

But in recent times new definition of fine arts includes conceptual art, film, photography, printmaking along with some visual art forms. Earlier crafts and decorative arts were distinguished from being a part of fine arts but now days the artists feelings are taken into considerations not the medium or style of paintings so this kind of distinction has become meaningless. So the definition of Fine Arts has become very wide.
