6-year-old Noida girl holds solo show

NEW DELHI: As she floated around the Gallery floor in her polka dot dress, six year old Ahaana Makkar could have been easily mistaken as a kid accompanying her parents at an art exhibition. This shy kindergarten student of Step by Step school in Noida, however, is the artist who completed all the 30 works on display when she was five-between April 2012 and March 2013.
Titled Ahaana at 5, the exhibition, which is on at the All India Fine arts and Crafts Society till Sunday, is a one-of-a-kind initiative.
According to her drawing teacher Maurice Ryder, it makes this little girl the youngest artist in the country to have her solo exhibition, 'Before her there was a seven-year-old, who had an exhibition at Lalit Kala Academy,' said Ryder, who was accompanying Ahaana and her mother at the exhibition venue on Tuesday.
While a few of her works might seen juvenile to the critic, some of her Drawings have subtle stroke of the brilliance. The others are plain spectacular and have a strong sense of individuality.
The little artist's mother, Divya, said, "We are happy and thrilled. It took her 5-6 hours to complete a single painting on display here, she gets very excited by colors. The moment she enters the art Kendra, she is in a different world."
